Let down by your builder/designer
When it happens for both renovating and building, “You” may make the big initial decision to do it.
Once the decision is made, there are several smaller decisions that need to be made, and then there
are decisions on the decisions, sound complicated. It is. Construction starts and then you are at the
mercy of you build team or family, whoever. It’s these decisions – the quantity and potential impact
of them – that can overwhelm most homeowners.
Sometimes decisions are made based on cost, this I believe is probably the number 1 issue. In the end you pay for what you get.
It doesn’t take a lot to make 3 or 4 wrong turns – or take bad advice from well-meaning people – and end up a long way from where you’re supposed to be. You’ll spend time. You’ll spend money. And you’ll be in a position you don’t want to be. Putting up with terrible service, terrible quality, terrible
results. And because you have spent your money and time, ending up with something that is not what you expected. This is the normal reaction:
“Well, it’s not exactly what I want. But I don’t want to hurt their feelings, or be the difficult customer, or put them off-side.”
“It’s OK. I’ve already spent this time and money. I don’t want to start again. And everyone has problems when renovating or building – this is no different to the norm.”
“but this is just what happens when you build or renovate”
Well it’s not really like that at all. You my friend have been a victim of a bad building team.
This is the kicker …
What’s the BIG reason that we stay? Well, I think the hardest thing is admitting we made the wrong
choice. That we were wrong. That – I think – is usually the biggest hurdle.
Don’t try and do it all yourself, get help. Seek out people, like us, to help you make the decisions you need to make. We will take you through every step in the progress. During the building process,
sometimes problems arise. Its how we deal with the problems that’s the key. So many times I’ve
heard, “they didn’t tell us it would look like this” or “why didn’t they fix it while it was uncovered during construction”. , I’ve seen it so frequently … homeowners, with their hearts on their sleeves,
mortgages in their pockets and dreams in their minds, getting so poorly treated.
